Freestyle 101

G4 has been dropping a new Freestyle 101 segment every week for over a year now, recently winning a “Best Music Series” Webby Award.
Last April, G4tv launched a new web show called Freestyle 101. Top rappers (East coast & West coast, mainstream & underground) visit their studio to kick freestyles about video games, the internets, pop culture, the streets, and whatever else they feel like.
Each video is 4-6 minutes long, and features the freestyle first, and some interesting thoughts about the art of freestyling afterwards. Here are some of my favorites…

Who is G4 anyway? Whats G4 TV? They have a studio 2 blocks from the gallery I work at. In the same building as E and Styles Network.
i’m watching TASH kill it right now..I hope J-RO comes thru, thats one of my top MC”s all time.
alright it’s on!!! i need to go find J-Ro’s last two albums he’s still killing it.
Yeah, Tash rips it, but the big dude who comes on after him is garbage, so I didn’t put up the video. But then the guy who comes on last, the R&B singin dude, has a KILLER voice and flow. I just wish they had edited the 2nd dude out.
Yeah, I almost forgot that I went to G4’s offices before. They have their own secret floor. If you go in the elevator and press their floor (5 I think), it skips it and goes up to 6. And then if you press it again it drops you off at 4. Someone finally let me in but there were a bunch of uppity nerds over there. Of course, they have video games all over the place and I would gladly work there if they wanted to hire me.
G4TV started off just showing video game stuff, but now they cover all kinds of electronics & gadgets as well as other entertaining stuff, like Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Banzuke. I dig their style, especially these segments.
BTW, I nominate “The Pack” for wackest video, altho I’m sure others are just as bad.
I didn’t know J-Ro had solo albums. Hook me up man!
yeah dude I’ll find those JRO records. He has two I had on my last computer before the crash. I don’t think I’ll have a hard time finding them.
He has a cut called You Call That Love you can find on Youtube. It’s on some corny love song hip hop shit BUT he makes it dope!
I think the albums are called Universal Bboy Volumes 1 and 2. I’ll dig them up..
also have you ever heard X Friends. J-Ro basically takes Xzibit apart body part by body part. SMASHES him. I think they may be back to buddy buddy but he let him have it back then….

i always thought he was kind of annoying but Tech N9ne’s session was dope.
