    Michael sent me this:

This is my first year in FBB and I used your rankings in the draft and now I sit in second place only 3 points back, thank you!

I am looking to deal to get me over the hump. I have a huge lead (1st) in blocks, second in rebounds but I need to gain a few spots in assists, points and alot in FT%.

I was just offered Chris Paul & Andres Nocioni for my Danny Granger & Josh Smith, what do you think. I can afford to lose a spot or 2 in rebounds and I think the most I can move down in blocks is 1 spot becuase I also own Camby. Oh yeh, the guy I am trading with cannot pass me in any categories that involce this trade.

    Thanks for all the help

    Michael

    I responded:

I kind of wonder if you should deal away Camby instead of J-Smoov just because of the injury factor. Do you have solid replacement centers tho? (He has Dalembert. SOLID).

Obviously getting Paul is a major coup but having to give up Granger too makes this a tough call. How are you doing in the others cats?

If you look at his stats, Granger has been a top 10 fantasy player over the last month. I would try to come up with a different variation of this trade. Maybe you can trade J-Smoov or Camby + a backup player for Paul straight up and leave Granger out of the offer. I’d try some other options.

  2. Evil E on February 12th, 2008 6:44 pm

Granger had 18 pts, 10 boards, 3 dimes, 1 three, and 5 blocks! with a perfect 5-5 from the line tonight. Ohhhhhh SNAP! It looks like Granger has made 55+ free throws in a row!!! That’s madness. DO NOT TRADE GRANGER!!!

  3. Deep Clover on February 12th, 2008 7:49 pm

I’m thinking of offering Baron and Horford to get Amare.

I love Baron, but steals and assists have become nearly meaningless to me — I’ll finish no worse than 2nd in steals and no better than 9th in assists unless I complete overhaul my roster, so there’s not much at stake in those categories. What I really need are FG% and FT%.

I don’t expect Shaq to have a huge impact on Amare, and it seems like people are starting to forget what a huge injury risk Baron is.

If this gets rejected, is there another realistic big who might make sense? (Dirk would be ideal, but that’s not happening.)

On an unrelated note, where do you currently stand on Travis Outlaw and Gomes? I have both & am getting impatient.

  4. Evil E on February 13th, 2008 1:34 am

Amare has been a monster recently so that’s not a bad trade at all. He’s even shooting around 85% from the line over the past month or so. If you can’t get him, what about Yao?

Gomes is solid whenever he gets 30+ minutes. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t want to keep him If you need help in the %’s. He shot 49.1% FG and 85.2% FT in January. That seems pretty good to me.

Outlaw’s minutes have also been erratic but he’s still scoring points in bunches and blocking shots. He’s worth hanging onto if you need blocks but if my man Dorell Wright is available I would roll with him instead.

  5. Kidphenom on February 13th, 2008 1:34 am

Is Dorell Wright going to continue to put up numbers like last week (16pts 8.3 rebs) now that shaq is gone?

  6. Illinibruin32 on February 13th, 2008 1:52 am

I’m leading a 9 category (with TO’s) yahoo leauge. I currently have G - Kobe, Chauncey, B-Roy, Ray Allen, Monta, Raja Bell, Navarro; F - Okafor, Finley, Gomes, Aldridge, Deng C - Yao, Bynum. We play 3-3-2-2.

I am considering offering Ray Allen, Gomes, Bynum, and Deng for Boozer, Marvin Williams, and Zach Randolph. The guy I would trade with is near the bottom - I think it’s an upside trade for him. It’d leave me with starting Chauncey-Kobe-Roy-Ellis-Bell-Finley-Okafor-Aldridge-Boozer-Yao. Bench of Randolph, Williams, Navaro, and a random. What do ya think?

  7. Andrew on February 13th, 2008 2:17 am

Drop Diaw for Nazr as a #2 center? Drop Childress or Thornton for Dorell Wright? Love the site man.

  8. dimebag on February 13th, 2008 4:22 am

i currently have cp3, boozer, kaman, m. miller, a miller, r. hamilton, j rich, r allen, m bibby, artest, foster, wright, battier, haywood, gordon…

I am doing good on 3pt, 3pt%, ast, rebs and on 4th place… I really want to get rid of allen, bibby for a consistent player… who should I get? allen, bibby for granger?
I will be probably picking up devin harris after the trade… my weakest stat is on ft and reb…

    what do you think guys?

  9. Evil E on February 13th, 2008 5:35 am

Kidphenom, Andrew, and everyone else - Check my recent “Hot pickups” post for more on D. Wright.

Diaw for Nazr is a tough call. Nazr is playing well now because G. Wallace has been out, but Diaw will be hurt by Shaq as well. I would keep Diaw only if you need assists I guess. Is Blount available?

  10. Evil E on February 13th, 2008 5:38 am

Illinibruin32 - That’s certainly a blockbuster right there. How is your team doing in all of the cats?

  11. Fish on February 13th, 2008 10:59 am

Do you think that Durant is going to have a better 2nd half, I am debating whether to wait for another solid week from him and shop him. I am leading the league, I could improve in assists and 3’s, but I am in a keeper league so wondering if it is better to hold on to him for the future.

  12. illinibruin32 on February 13th, 2008 1:16 pm

Tied for 2nd in FG%, with 1st a ways a way, and 4th very close. Tied for 1st in FT%. 4th in 3PM, but only 17 from 3rd. 2nd in points, safely. 3rd in rebounds, close race. 4th in assists, fairly close race. 6th in steals, close race. 4th in blocks, fairly safe. Tied for 6th in TO’s. We have an 82 game position cap, can adjust daily.

Also have a trade offer out for Ray Allen and Deng for Al Jefferson. Any thoughts on these or other potential trades?

Thanks! I used your method to draft, and am leading. Unfortunatley, the person in 2nd place did too.

  13. Evil E on February 13th, 2008 2:33 pm

Fish - No, I don’t see Durant playing much better. It’s not like he’s going to suddenly start pulling 8 boards a game. If anything, his frail frame is going to start wearing down, so I would shop him if you want to make sure you win your league.

Bruin - I don’t like that Allen + Deng for Jefferson trade. I can see why you’re sour on both guys, but that’s too much to give up IMO. As for your other trade, I don’t think it’s a bad deal, but aren’t you worried about falling in threes without Ray Allen? Maybe go for a smaller trade. Would he go for Gomes + Bynum for Marvin?

  14. matt chiang on February 13th, 2008 4:24 pm

    your site is pretty great,
I offered a trade of lebron and bedrins for calderon and amare.

it was immediately approved. Am I an idiot?

  15. illinibruin32 on February 13th, 2008 4:27 pm

Hm. You think I need more 3PM if I am starting Roy (1 PG), Kobe (1.8), Billups (1.8), Finley (1.9) and Bell (2.4)? I also have Navarro (2) if more is needed. My key is Boozer - I am looking for another high FG% guy, as this is a race that is hotly contested amongst the leaders.

  16. Evil E on February 13th, 2008 4:45 pm

Matt - Damn, that was a steal! I love Biedrins but Amare has been more valuable than LeBron recently and Calderon has been phenomenal. Nice trade bro!

  17. Evil E on February 13th, 2008 4:51 pm

Bruin - Yeah, it does look like you’re pretty solid at threes. I guess I’m hesitant to recommend the trade cuz I don’t like Randolph, but if you can get Boozer and Marvin that’ll be pretty nice for you. What do others think?

  18. Steve on February 13th, 2008 5:19 pm

I have Anthony Carter and my buddy recently dropped Jamal Tinsley.

I favor dropping Carter and adding Tinsley at about 55%. Carter’s numbers and rating have dropped significantly the past few games. I feel like Tinsley’s expected payoff (getting healthy and playing like he did earlier in the season) following the All-Star break outweighs the risk of him getting injured again. Based on this information, I should go ahead and do it, right?

Your feedback would be much appreciated.

  19. Evil E on February 13th, 2008 7:28 pm

Tinsley has the upside but an injured J-Tins is no good. It wouldn’t hurt you to lose Carter, but if you look at my schedule grid you’ll see that the Pacers don’t play a lot of games from here on out.

  20. Max on February 13th, 2008 9:17 pm

I have a 10 game lead for 1st place in my head-to-head league. Should I drop Marvin Williams and pick up Andrew Bynum?

  21. Evil E on February 13th, 2008 9:38 pm

WTF? Aren’t you the one who was reppin’ Marvin Williams a long, long time ago? Why would you drop your boy for an injured player?

(Looks up Marvin’s recent stat lines)

So he’s in a shooting slump (23-70 FG over his last 5), no worries. It’s not like he’s losing minutes (46 tonight!). Marvin’s steals, blocks, FG%, and FT% are solid, so I still like him. If someone dropped him in my leagues, I would be all over him.

  22. Chris S. on February 13th, 2008 11:26 pm

With Deng and Haslem on IR, I’ve fallen from 3rd to 6th, dropping in FG, FT, rebs, and blocks. I just picked up Dorrell Wright and want to dump Anthony Carter since Arenas (hopefully) will be off IR, but who to pick up? Sefolosha, Warrick, V-Rad, Bass, Joe Smith, or Thad Young?

  23. Claude on February 14th, 2008 12:43 am

I traded Monta, Gasol, and B. Miller for Okafor, R Jefferson, and Al Harrington right after the Gasol trade. I’m not sure if I got ripped off yet. My goal was to simply get rid of Miller and I didn’t feel like Gasol would improve at all. Monta I was very, very hesitant with, he’s the reason why I’m asking this whole question. I needed 3’s so that was my reasoning for Harrington, and he has thus far done his job, not up to my expectations, but I’m content with it. I didn’t really want Jefferson, but he came with the deal, so I just took it.

So, did I get ripped off or make a great decision in getting rid of Miller and Gasol?

also, what could I get out of jefferson, i really dont like him.
(This is all in a H2H league)

  24. Evil E on February 14th, 2008 1:20 am

    Damn Claude,

I never would have done that. Okafor is nice but his FT% is going to kill you. You could have got better than him straight up for Brad Miller, but then you threw Gasol and Monta in for Harrington and R-Jeff. You paid a very high price to get some threes my man. You could have just traded Brad for Al straight up and would have been better off IMO. But again, you must not have shopped my #2 white center around because you should have been able to get something much better than that for him.

Chris S. - I would pick up Warrick for sure. I wrote awhile back that his blocks per 48 stat is horrible for someone considered a high flyer like Warrick, but he’s going to play a lot of big man minutes for Memphis and has already proven he can shoot decent %’s.

  25. dimebag on February 14th, 2008 2:05 am

bibby and r allen for josh howard?

  26. Steve on February 14th, 2008 2:18 am

hey Max: I’m gonna make a lot of assumptions regarding your dilemma and pray that this analysis helps because if I were in your situation (where Marv is the primary candidate for drop-considerations, Bynum is a free-agent, AND I have a 10 game lead in a H2H league–perhaps a small-league with only 6-8 teams?), I’d also probably want a second opinion especially with fantasy playoffs rolling around…If there’s a big prize for finishing 1st place in the season (NOT the playoffs) this move is way too risky. Win the rest of your H2H matchups and get that big prize. Picking up Bynum now would only hurt your chances of finishing first. However, IF the fantasy PLAYOFF winner takes all or a substantial portion, you’ve got a tougher decision…

Bynum will probably be out another 4 weeks…5 weeks max. Many fantasy league playoffs will begin in 6 weeks (March 24 for Yahoo). Bynum’s numbers will probably be slightly lower than his averages when he returns (because of conditioning and Gasol) but those should still be pretty darn good considering that his averages in FG% (63.6%), BLOCKS (2.1), and REB (10.2) are good for 1st, 8th, and 12th (respectively) in the NBA. He is also averaging 13.1 pts, 1.7 assists, 1.5 TO, and 69.5% FT. Compare these numbers to Marv (FG% 45.8%, BLOCKS 0.5, REB 5.7, 16.1 pts, 1.8 assists, 1.7 TO, and 82.1% FT and you see here that Marv is stronger in PTS (+3), FT% (+12.6%–this stat understates the differential impact for your team because Marv attempts more FT), and STLS (+0.7). But really, if you take a closer look, Marv’s strengths have a lesser statistical impact on your fantasy team’s ability to win in those categories than Bynum’s strengths do (i.e. his FG%, BLOCKS, and REB dominate the league average in these categories). In addition, for fantasy league formats that play 2 centers, Bynum is a premium player because the availability of quality players who can player C is substantially lower than the availability of quality players that can play SG or SF and during the fantasy playoffs this can not be overlooked. I don’t feel like quantifying my rationale so I’m going to leave that out. However, I could easily suggest other moves if I knew the details of your league, particularly the specific stat categories you are weak in, the other players on your team, the players on your competitors’ teams and the teams’ rankings, the players in the free agent pool, the number of teams in your league, whether or not the 1st place team gets a bye during round 1 of the playoffs…unfortunately (or fortunately?) these (and LUCK) all come into play in determining who emerges the champion

…I can only postulate from your 10 game lead in, a H2H league, this far into the season AND the fact that youre considering to drop Marv Williams that your bench is pretty deep at the guard and forward positions.

Atlanta has 4 games in round 2 of the fantasy playoffs versus the Lakers’ 3. However, both have 5 games during the championship week, starting April 7.

At this point, I don’t see how one extra fantasy playoff game is enough to reap any clear advantage of keeping Marv over a player like Bynum for the fantasy.playoffs. Therefore, I tentatively recommend dropping Marv and adding Bynum to your team

  27. Fish on February 14th, 2008 9:19 am

So, I am definitely looking to shop Durant, I put a couple of feelers out right now my team is:

PG - D. Williams, Calderon, Conley, Blake, Louis Williams
    SG - Kobe, D. Stevenson
SF - Gay, Durant, Dunleavy, Moon, Marvin Williams
PF - West, Thad Young, Outlaw, Blatche
    C - D. Ho, Al Horford, Haywood

I am 3rd in assists and 6th in 3’s, being that it is a keeper league Durant should have more trade value then just his current stats. Who do you think is a realistic target? Manu? J Rich? Roy for Durant straight up? One team has Kidd and Nash, maybe try to nab one of them?

Just looking for some other peoples thoughts.

  28. Fish on February 14th, 2008 9:25 am

    Terry/Kleiza for Durant/Moon?

  29. Fish on February 14th, 2008 9:52 am

    Redd/Devin Harris - Durant/Outlaw

  30. Vince on February 14th, 2008 5:50 pm

so this is my team. i think i need more 3’s, assist, FG% wouldnt hurt either.
    chauncey billups
    brandon roy
    leandro barbosa
    kevin durant
    tim duncan
    richard jefferson
    yao ming
    andrew bogut
    david west
    dorell wright
    darko milicic
    mike conley

i wanna blockbuster trade duncan and milicic for amare but do you think i should do somethign else to get more 3’s (trade durant? hes a baller but not in fantasy)
    thx

  31. Vince on February 14th, 2008 7:53 pm

ok someone offered ray allen for andrew BOGUT trade???
i countered offered with a low ball.
durant + millicic for r. allen

  32. jason on February 15th, 2008 8:40 pm

i traded shard lewis, jj, bmiller and haywoody for the matrix, twat jamison, linas and darko, did i get madd ripped off? i know i gave up some really good guys but shard has been a one trick pony all season, his rank is really inflated by leading the league in 3s, jj’s to’s and esp fg% is such a major drag down i was almost happy to see him go, figured darko with big minutes post gasol could post numbers similiar to haywoody minus the ft%, figured the matrix would explode in miami bein the number 2 guy to wade and having something to prove, my thinkin was every stat but fg and to’s would go up on what was already a number 2 ranked stat line, linas with 30 min a game can put up decent numbers, bmillier is the guy ill miss the most cause he really didnt do anything bad but with all the kings healthy again his numbers should take a dip 2nd half, with twan im gettin a top 25 guy that is ranked similiar to shard but is much more consistent and gets more cats, i prob gave away a little depth and i was thinkin to make up for that i would trade amare and cwebb or milsap for jrich and okur, your thoughts on the trade i made and the trade i might make???

  33. shawn on February 16th, 2008 3:18 pm

If you would give some suggestions on improving my team. My team consists of the following: arenas, kidd, barbosa, bibby, tinsley, gerald wallace, rashard lewis, maggette, dorrell wright, joe smith, shaq, bynum, and collison.
I need orebs, rebs, fg%, and blks. I am thinking of adding haslem, dampier, or varejao. Can you think of any trade combos? I am currently in seventh place of a 12 team league.

  34. shawn on February 17th, 2008 11:37 am

I just dropped d. wright and added udrih who boasts excellent percentages and good numbers with starter’s minutes (bibby deal). I am interested in packaging barbosa, kidd, lewis, and or wallace in search of caron butler, yao, bosh, granger, and rudy gay types.Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

  35. KL on February 17th, 2008 1:07 pm

someone offered me Lebron for my CP3 straight up- should i pull da trigger? I’m in a head=to-head standard 8 cat league with 8 teams. Also, kobe is injured. what’s your take on him going forward. Will he still be a stud during fantasy playoffs?

  36. Arjun on February 17th, 2008 11:59 pm

    yo ROTO EVIL,

wut’s the situation with Deng.. is he comin back anytime soon? how good will he be when he does come back? Also, will RJ’s value go up if kidd gets traded?

    thanks~

  37. darren on February 18th, 2008 2:56 am

hey roto E, what do you think of marcus banks and tyrus thomas production post-all star? would they be good enough to be playable? thnx

  38. killakyleon on February 18th, 2008 6:45 am

i recently traded hedo and chandler 4 boozer, what do u think about that? i know he got the better deal, but i’m in first place and i already have b miller, kaman and biedrins as my centers, so one of them had 2 go because in my league 4 centers is 2 many. this is my first year playing fantasy bball and i love your site.

  39. killakyleon on February 18th, 2008 8:10 am

yo what’s the deal killakyleon again i literally just made another trade wade 4 billups and crawford, what do u think? the reason why i wanted 2 move wade is because he’s still not 100% because of his injury and one of the biggest reasons why i wanted billups and crawford is because billups made your all fantasy third team and crawford was on one of your all nba fantasy value teams. the trade forced me 2 drop raja bell, so basically i dumped wade and bell 4 billups and crawford please respond. much love

  40. Deep Clover on February 18th, 2008 7:24 pm

Who’s the better free agent pickup right now, Gibson or Foye?

  41. jason on February 20th, 2008 11:34 pm

dude this is a cool site, and its cool that you do it for free, but cmon man if you’re gonna have a section like this, you cant check the site and respond every 7 days, kinda defeats the whole purpose of a drop add trade site, we cant wait a week for advice on most of these questions, so good work but get your head out of your ass and answer something this month

  42. Evil E on February 20th, 2008 11:49 pm

There was a change in plans. Peep the giant exclamation mark here:
